| How to Become a Real Estate Agent To become an Affiliate Broker (Sales Person), the Tennessee Real Estate Commission requires you to have a High School Diploma or G.E.D. certificate. You must complete and pass sixty classroom hours of approved classes in "Basic Principles of Real Estate." You may then take the state exam. After passing the state exam, you must return to school and complete a 30 hours New Affiliate Broker Course prior to becoming licensed, These courses are available several times each month to prepare you for the license.
*Note: Students with past criminal convictions, other than driving offenses, must apply to the Real Estate Commission for permission to take the real estate examination. Application forms are available at our school. Dear Future Agent: Thank you for visiting our website. It shows you how to become a Real Estate Agent. Additionally, the course schedules and registration forms are included. Our courses are accredited with the real estate commission for pre-license requirements. To take the State Exam, you will need to complete both Part 1 and Part 2 of our Basic Principles Course. You may take either part first. Daytime classes are 6 hrs. per day for ten days. Evening classes are five hours per evening for twelve evenings, Monday through Thursday for three weeks. The Weekend classes include three hours Friday evening and six hours on Saturday and Sunday for four weeks. Upon passing the course we provide you with certification necessary to take the Tennessee Real Estate Examination. The State Exam is given several times daily in Memphis and four other cities in Tennessee. Upon passing the State Exam, you must then return to school and take the New Affiliate’s course. This class is offered as a four-day class or as a five-evening class. At this point you may apply for your license. While a high percentage of our students are passing the state exam on the first try, the commission will not allow us to guarantee you will pass. Additionally, the Commission has a policy restricting the issuance of licenses to persons with past criminal convictions, other than driving offenses, without having a hearing. We recommend you not take the course until this matter has been cleared through the Commission. Call us if further details are desired.
